How Does Mls Multiple Listing
Question by Lobo Mike: How does MLS (multiple listing service) work?
In Real Estate, at least in the US I notice there is a multiple listing service.
How would one access this? If I wanted to add content to a website with this data, would I be able to? Would I be able to for free?
How do I contact someone to find this information out?
thanks

The MLS is a service that you as a licensed agent subscribe to. It has a component fore the public to view listed properties but they cannot add or subtract from it. Contact an agent in the area with the MLS# you are interested in and they will take it from there.

The Multiple Listing Service is a service were brokers and agent can place their property there to advertise to other brokerages. Number one rule of the service is that if you place the property there you agree to share part of your commission with the other agent that brings the buyer (the procuring cause).
For you to access the service, you must
1/ hold a Real Estate License in good standards,
2/ have your license with a broker unless you are the broker and have your company,
3/ be a member of the National Association of Realtors, plus your Regional Association, plus the Multiple Listing Service.
4/ paid your yearly membership fees on time and be up to date with.
No, you can not access for free. Being a member you can get access to all county records, public records, through the service and some information is confidential. Like where a certain judge or a police officer lives.
If you have some property and you want to place on the service contact an agent offer a compensation and the agent can place the property for you. Otherwise you have to go to school, get your license, paid your fees and dues, sign yourself with a broker, and then you can use it.
Good Luck
